Tooloose Art, good old Bahamian Art.

Despite his recent travails, Tooloose has managed to create another pretty fantastic piece of art.

This mosaic of sea glass is called Minnie the Mermaid, and typifies the skill Tooloose brings to his work, using broken glass pieces that wash up on the shore.

07th December 2006 : St. Anthony and the Tiefs

anthony Remember St. Anthony, the patron saint of lost and found (I forgot who's the patron of tiefs)? Well, I went to St. Anthony of Padua School for 8 years! I think he has had a ball hiding things from me over the years.

Yesterday I went outside to board up the broken window after the robbery.

I couldn't find my hammer, so I grabbed a hatchet and some nails.

Couldn't find my ladder, so I stood on my bar stool.

I had to move a windsurfer mast out of the way and as I did, rainwater that had bee collecting inside re-rained down on my head just as one of the legs of the bar stool broke thru a
sinkhole in my garden.

So there I was, dripping wet, teetering on a bar stool with a hatchet in one hand and nails in the other.

It was a circus moment. I must keep finding the humour.

The Police here are incompetent and lazy. I just got off the phone with Dell Computers reporting the theft and they could not have been more helpfull. We needed the case number from the cops so I called them.

Day say dat Da Offica dat do dat...she gone fo da day and she von be back till Monday!

IIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEE!

I think the Lord is testing me for being faithless. Sunday night after my Paradise Island gig I was propositioned by a Jamiacan hooker. That's not unusual. What was unusual was that she was drop dead gorgeous. pro

I told her I wasn't so much worried about getting robbed again as I was having her put the final nails in my coffin.

Oh Lord Why does thou test me so?

So now I'm trying to focus what's left of my energy to do these last commisssions so that I can spend Christmas in Baltimore and New Years in North Hampton Mass. with Spirithouse.

Til later. Plenty Love,

Tooloose

07th December 2006 : Tooloose Laptop and Art Update

We had a rockin week here with Spirithouse. Wish you'd been there.

You'da loved it.

Thursday I picked the guys up @ the airport and fter settling @ Andrew Jone's...we went to Goldies @ The Fish Fry for Scorch and Conch salad and Sky Juuice...Gin and Cconut Water and sweet cream. None for me thank you.

We rehearsed that night and Friday we played a benefit for World AiDS DAy @ the NPCC Community Center. It was a variety show with all kinds of Bahanmian performers before Andrew Jones and Spirithouse hit the stage. It was great, everyone was on their feet.

Saturday night The Graham Holden Deal played a private party @ a mansion on Paradise Island before rushing over the bridge to The Buzz. After Saturday night's show @ The Buzz where they backed me up on Chicken in the Bag, I came home @ 3:30am to find.... I'd been robbed......again!

Fnn Tiefs got my new laptop!

But worst of all, my portfolio was in the bag. My Hawiain slings and spears (for spearing fish), my sunglasses and a shitload of quaters.

I'm sick about it. This is the 7th time including the Xgirlfriends' jeep last year and that's not including The Hurricane Michelle Heist where they cleaned me out @ The Villa D'Amour on
Love Beach in 2001.

Well, I've finally had it with The Villa TooLoose and maybe even the Bahamas. Glad I didn't buy the place cause I don't think I could resell it. Gonna try and find a place out west (Love Beach) when I get

back from the Holidays in the States.

Anyway, I was so UP from all the plenty plenty love of being with Spirithouse. I knew I'd have to come down but didn't realize I'd be hittin the wall so soon.

I'm so bummed but thankful that I'm still alive and they didn't take my guitars or destroy my artwork. My whole life's work was representd in that potfolio...I placed a sign outside for the perpetrators:

tiefs

The police are useless so I called the papers and gave my story direct.

So If anyone's waiting for me to update my blog.....hang in there. Gotta get that blonde to set the clock back!

Well I hope things are well with all of you.

Plenty Love

Hear Ye! Hear Ye!

Word has been received at Tooloose headquarters here in Nassau, Bahamas, that the ETA (otherwise known to lesser mortals as "Estimated Time of Arrival") of previously aforementioned Tooloose computer rapidly approaches.

As you may already know from your faithful attention to the verbiage on this blog space at toolooseart.com (Riveting prose, I tell ya. Riveting.), this marks an important step in Tooloose's evolution.

However, dragging him into the 21st century by convincing him to blog on the Big Blog Media Network has actually not been as painful as you might imagine. Tooloose has actually been "blogging" for most of his life, in one format or another: through his songs, in conversation, through his art works, in his stories.

The mechanics may change a bit, but we at the Big Blog Media Network actually feel, in fact, that Tooloose is a natural-born blogger!

time So, we've decided to mark the days leading up to actual receipt of previously aforementioned Tooloose computer with a . . . ta da . . .

Tooloose Computer Countdown!

Mission control at Tooloose headquarters expects physical delivery of aforementioned Tooloose computer on or about noon on Friday, September 1, 2006.

Today is Wednesday, August 30, 2006, at 1900 Hours Eastern Standard Time. Approximately 41 hours from now, Tooloose will begin to evolve right in front of your eyes.

Let the countdown begin!

09th August 2006 : Bahamas Music and Cat Island

As you read the posts on Toolooseart.com, you will notice that Tooloose has the ability to create in several media: through Music and Songwriting, through Painting and Drawing (and with any luck, Art), and through Writing.

His life in the Bahamas has been colorful and eventful. It has given him the opportunity to meet incredible individuals like Tony McKay (the Obeah Man) and Andrew Jones, deal with plenty scoundrels (you know who you are), and provided the material for countless songs and paintings.

Keep your eyes on this space and you'll get a real taste of the Bahamas through Tooloose's Art.
